Privacy policy
This policy explains what we collect when you use the Rytmee app and this website, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated: 20 October 2026.
Who we are
Rytmee (“Rytmee”, “we”) runs the Rytmee dating app and this website, and is responsible for your personal data. Contact us about privacy at support@rytmee.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email address from Google or Apple when you sign in. We never post anything on your behalf.
- Your profile: first name, date of birth, gender, who you want to meet, what you’re looking for, sports and how intensely you train, when you train, achievements, photos, answers to questions, bio, job, studies, lifestyle (alcohol, smoking) and height if you add it.
- Your location: your position, if you allow it, to find your city and the distance to other people. You can type your city instead.
- What you do in the app: likes, passes, Super Likes, matches, messages and reactions, blocks and reports.
- Your devices: the notification tokens that let us send you notifications, and technical logs (such as errors, app version, device type and IP address).
- Purchases: if you buy Rytmee Pro or a Boost, the store tells us what you bought and until when. We never see your card details.
Your profile can show your sports, and sometimes your answers can suggest things like your sexual orientation (who you want to meet). We use this only to run the service you asked for, and you choose what you share.
What other members see
Your first name, your age (not your date of birth), your city and a rounded distance (never your position), and your profile: photos, sports, answers, bio, job, studies, lifestyle and training times. Messages are only visible to the two people in the conversation.
Why we use it
- To run Rytmee (our contract with you): show your profile, find people who match your preferences and distance, deliver likes, matches, messages and notifications.
- To keep members safe (our legitimate interest, and our legal obligations): review reports, remove profiles that break the rules, prevent fraud and abuse.
- To fix and improve the app (our legitimate interest): technical logs and error reports.
- With your consent: your device’s position and notifications. You can turn them off in your phone’s settings at any time.
We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only with the services that help us run Rytmee, under contracts that protect your data:
- Vercel (hosting of the app and this website).
- MongoDB Atlas (our database, where profiles, photos and messages are stored).
- Google (sign-in, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android notifications) and Apple (Sign in with Apple, iPhone notifications, App Store purchases).
- RevenueCat (keeps track of purchases made in the apps).
- Photon by Komoot (turns your position, or the city you type, into a city name).
- Our logging service (technical logs used to fix problems).
We may also share data when the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
Where your data is stored
Our providers may process your data outside your country, including in the United States. When data leaves the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Your profile, photos, likes, matches and messages: until you delete them or your account.
- Notifications in the app: 30 days.
- Technical logs: a short time, normally a few weeks.
- Reports, and the copy of the conversation attached to a report: as long as needed to keep members safe, even after an account is deleted.
- Purchase records: as long as the law requires.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile, then Delete account. This deletes your profile, photos, likes, passes, matches, the messages in your conversations, your notifications and your blocks. See Delete your account for other ways to ask.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to object to or limit how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Write to support@rytmee.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
Age
Rytmee is only for people aged 18 and over. We delete accounts that belong to anyone younger.
This website
This website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. If you choose a language, we remember it in a small cookie. Our host keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it applies.
